One of the most common computing complaints is that after a while, Windows takes a lot longer to load than it did when the PC was new. The main reason is that a lot of software presumptuously adds itself to your startup group. Either the whole program loads when Windows does, or a smaller “helper” application is started. This extra work means that it takes much longer for your PC to become usable after hitting the On button.
