eratic curser

when entering text on my laptop(amilo/vista)the curser will randomly  jump to another position on the page ( this could be seconds to minutes )
it also happens when i am using the mouse-the pointer will randomly
jump to another position

if i am typing i have to constantly keep my eyes on the screen to compensate
for curser jumping

i think this only happens when i am using the internet ( internet explorer )

my computer is " virus free " according to AVGfree

thanks i advance for any info

Multiple Windows?

Hi Al

When doing your browsing are you working from Multiple Windows?

If so, i'd suggest you keep the numbers of windows you have open to a minimum and minimise the windows you aren't using at any one time

That way your cursor won't go disappearing on you.

Just Minimise/Maximise when you use each IE window accordingly.

This works with my laptop PC.

Jumping Cursor

Have you tried reloading / reconfiguring the softawre which controls the pointer ?

Jumping 2

My HP "touchpad" cursor sometimes suffers from this AFTER  I use a  separate plug-in/bluetooth cordless mouse - I think an occasional conflict arises.  When I reconfigure the software it works OK.

 Also check the Mouse

Also check the Mouse pointer settings in control panel. sometimes there is a setting called "Snap to" and it will make the mouse pointer jump to the nearest default button in a dialogue box.

God doesn't play dice Does that mean I was supposed to be like this??

 From time to time my

From time to time my cursor has the jumps. Cleaning under the optical mouse  corrects it.  Although mouse looks ok.                                 Gerald.

Laptop cursor

I have an Acer laptop that suffered from this. In the Properties of the touchpad, under "Pointer Options",  there is a tick-box for "Hide cursor while typing". With this ticked my problem went away.
