help with a virus

My mam has a possible virus on here Dell laptop (vista) which seems to be blocking her from installing downloaded antivirus software, mainly blocking her passwords from being entered. I am sure I have seen previously on here about a bloke poss called steve who has a website that will scan your computer remotly and remove any viruses, is this the case and how can i find the website,

As they have recommended to you, there are a load of free sites.
The alternative is to run Safe Mode With Networking, download and install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware program, update it and that should clear out most stuff.
By running in safe mode, you should be able to access the internet.
Vista Virus
Isitme - 21 July 2008 - 12:05pmIt is difficult to pick up this sort of thing with Vista unless it's security has been disabled. Go to Start>Windows Defender and run a full scan. See if it turns up anything.
