Monitor or Graphics Card

Hi

When switching on the computer you usually hear a click as the monitor comes alive, for the last couple of weeks occasionally the screen remained blank.  Rebooting solved the issue, but now it refuses to light up.

Question - is it the graphics card (which is part of the motherboard) or is it something to do with the monitor?

If it is the graphics card I do not have a problem as I can switch off the motherboard one (hopefully, through the BIOS), and as it is not a games machine I have a few old graphics card in the loft.  However, if it is the monitor - that is another story!!!!

Thanks

The easiest way to find out

The easiest way to find out is to dig out another graphics card and try it. You have checked that all the plugs are properly inserted. Try unplugging  all the plugs, including power, and reseat them.
