What is Hi-Speed USB 2.0 ?

Hi there,

I have an Advent 7085 laptop with 2 x 2.0 USB ports.

Whenever I introduce my  Attache PNY 4.0 gb PEN Drive I get the following message

"The USB Mass Storage Device is a Hi Speed USB device and will function at reduced speed when plugged into a non-Hi-Speed port".

When I look at the port in question :-

Intel (R) 82801FB/FBM USB Universal Host Controller 2659

- USB Host Hub (2 ports)

What is all this about - what is the difference between Hi-Speed USB 2.0 and USB 2.0 ?

Thanks in advance

Tony

High speed is USB 2.0 and is

pca_Burn-IT's picture

High speed is USB 2.0 and is up to 480M bits/sec

Normal?? is USB 1.1 and is up to 1.2/1.5 Mbps

That message is telling you that your port is only running at 1.1 speeds.

Either there is a fault, or you do not have the USB 2.0 drivers loaded.

On a new machine this tends to indicate that the motherboard drivers have not been installed
