what would people think of a new type of magazine pc answers moving from paper to electronic type media on DVD with software style magazine on the DVD no paper only DVD each month. with the videos and software your views please
This was tried before, with the online version which was not much of a success. I think most prefer a paper copy you can pick up and thumb through, a DVD would be just too inconvenient. For me anyway
Kevin25 is not part of the magazine team, I can guarantee that.
You don't need to worry, we won't be going full digital, PCAnswers would be very easily 'pirated' in a digital format.
However the website is designed to fill that need, shortly what I'm saying will make more sense, it's not a big secret, but we'll be adding something to the site.
change website slightly to highlight staff and members so anybody who works for pc answers will show staff next to there name and any users will say member well its only a suggestion. it help people relate to who posting the messages
it's seems pretty harsh of Scott to respond to a member's idea in that way.
kevin25 wasn't pretending he was staff, just asking a question.
surely PCAnswers wants to be a friendly reader-focussed magazine not a hostile uppity publication that tells anyone with a new idea they have no right to speak?
My reply was not meant to be taken in a harsh manner, it was simply a response to a concern other forum members had, one who mistook Kevin for a staff member (I never suggested that Kevin said he was a staff member) and another who proceeded to over-react to an extent about the possibility. My post was an attempt to calm any situation and clarify (without a doubt) that Kevin was not a staff member.
I know you may think that I 'shot down' the idea, however this has been discussed many times before and has always been dismissed due to the security flaws of this format. My dismissal was (as I mentioned earlier) an attempt to reduce confusion over the matter. As Kevin said, there's no way to distinguish who is staff and not at the moment, ecept for the fact that we have our faces attached to each post.
PCAnswers never has or will be nasty to it's readers, we're getting alot of comments lately suggesting that we're evil monsters out to ruin your live, edit your posts, sensor your opinions and generally down-tread the populus. I can assure you the redesign process did not involve the removal of our hearts and the replacement of them with large cold evil mechanical devices that pump evironmentally unfriendly substances through our now evil veins.
I beg of you, please stop with the conspiracy theories, we're the same team - sans-Mr. Pickstock (add a dash of Nick V), as before. We're not plotting against you our readers, we make this magazine because we care about computing solutions and we'll continue to provide you with the best we can offer (and a happy smiley face) for as long as you will all let us.
