I have bought a used HIS HD3850 AGP graphics card on EBay and it seems to need a 8 pin power connector on the end of the card. My PSU has a 6 way pin but not an 8. I have tried the usual Maplin & Dabs sites without any luck. Has anybody had the same problem or can you point me a a better supplier? Thanks in advance

8 Pin adaptor.
Isitme - 24 September 2008 - 7:40pmYou only need the 8 pin connector if you want to use the Ati Overclock function. The card itself will work perfectly well with the 6 pin adapter from your power supply. A friend of mine had one and he had the same problem, but found it worked OK with the 6 pin. I take it you did not get the manual with the card, you should be able to download this from the ATI site, this will give you the full info.

8 pin adapter
pca_colin_90 - 24 October 2008 - 6:15pmMany thanks Tom, I fitted the card last weekend using a 6 pin plug via 2 molex connectors and all seems fine. But I still find it strange that I could not find an 8 pin connector anywhere
