Recent problem reading memory cards

I have just started getting message:

Error 0x8007045D: The request could not be performed because of an  I/O device error

This appeared when trying to copy files onto any external device ie: memory card. I have tried different cards etc, also I cannot connect my Pocket PC. I have tried looking on the Microsoft website and only find similar entries whilst performing backups on Vista or tape drives  but no solution for my problem. I recently installed and copied files using Sugarsync  online storage but have now uninstalled it. Can you help?
