Thunderbird & Google Mail

I have set up Thunderbird to use Google mail IMAP and each time I try and retrieve mail I get a "Connection to server imap.googlemail.com timed out"

I have checked and double checked my setting and am sure they are OK but still I have this problem!!

Open DNS was stopping

Open DNS was stopping Thunderbird from working. Problem solved.
