Hello,
I built a PC a good few years ago, and am completely out the loop as to computers now adays. I'd like to build a new one but simply can't afford it at mo, so have decided just to upgrade the memory from 512 MB to 2 GB.
My motherboard should have either DDR PC1600 or PC2100. My question is, if I got PC3200, would my motherboard take it and just run the memory at the speed of PC2100? Also, I've only got 2 slots, so if I only got one GB stick, would that need to be the same speed as my current 512 MB stick? Also, if I got 2 sticks of one GB, would they need to be the same speed?
My motherboard is a

A motherboard will accept faster RAM but just run it at the fastest speed it can. Is this true for all motherboards?
Yes it will take

" Is this true for all motherboards?"
No. Sometimes it can affect if the ram shows, the size of the ram and sometimes it will not boot if the ram is not in sync with the cpu speed.

Awesome stuff, thank you
