Blocking sites through router.

Hi all,

I have 4 PC hard wired through a router, but as the kids still insist on using my PC cos its better, faster they are doin me head in now!!Yell

I managed to block sites to deter them through my router, but I didnt realise it blocks those sites on other PC`s too! DOH!!

I only wish to block certain sites on my PC,but still let them access through thier own PC,anyone tell me how or if this can be done??

Thanks in advance

Gary

Add the sites to the HOSTS

Add the sites to the HOSTS  file on your PC

My router allows me to put each MAC into one of four LAN groups and then filter by group.

God doesn't play dice Does that mean I was supposed to be like this??

Blocking sites

If you just want to block them on your own PC, the easiest way would be to use your firewall to block the URLs. You would of course have to threaten severe retribution if the kids mess around with your firewall settings.

A sneakier way would be to use the Host file to block them, not many kids know about that, to paraphrase a recent post.Wink
